While it would be next to impossible to view the removal of Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish from their positions within the Edmonton Oilers organization as a questionable decision, Friday’s announcement that both would be relieved of their duties effective immediately was still rather shocking.

While the Edmonton Oilers have become the poster franchise for how not to re-build a National Hockey League franchise, the one thing this organization has not done over the last number of years is “ruin” their first round draft picks.
