Schultz and the AHL, could be a huge bonus for the Oilers


With the NHL Lockout is looking as though it could keep players from entertaining fans across North America for some time, the Edmonton Oilers are one of the few clubs that may actually benefit from the work stoppage. With the club's core group of players all still working on their first pro contracts and with Taylor Hall still recovering from off season shoulder surgery, the halt in NHL action couldn't have come at better time...if there ever is such a thing.

Lowe steals the show in Oil Kings season opener


After celebrating their 2011-2012 Western Hockey League championship season with a banner raising pre-game ceremony, the Edmonton Oil Kings kicked off their 2012-2013 campaign with a highly entertaining 5-3 victory over the Kootenay Ice in the WHL's season opener. Defenceman Keegan Lowe led the charge with a three point night and a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick", while Michael St. Croix added a goal and an assist.

Oilers should learn something about Paajarvi during the NHL Lockout



With the National Hockey League currently sitting in full "Lockout Mode" and team's having already assigned their eligible players down to their minor league affiliates, there is likely no player with more to gain, than the Edmonton Oilers Magnus Paajarvi. Having rarely been given a long look with any of the Oilers top young players, the twenty-one year old is now staring at the likely possibility of playing alongside Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle on the Oklahoma City Barons top line.
