Game 43: Edmonton 4 Colorado 1

After dropping six consecutive games, which saw them fall out of playoff contention in the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers finally found a team they were capable of beating. Goals from the quartet of Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Justin Schultz paced Ralph Krueger's crew to a much needed 4-1 victory, over the Northwest Division cellar dwellers.

MacTavish will have options to improve the Oilers mix upfront

The moment Craig MacTavish was named General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers, you knew the time for patience was over. To go out and bring back the former head coach who left the club following an absolutely dreadful 2009-2010 campaign, as the next face of this franchise's management team, Kevin Lowe and company were opening themselves up to a whole lot of questions.

Game 42: Minnesota 5 Edmonton 3

In their first opportunity to make an impression on new GM Craig MacTavish, the Edmonton Oilers proceeded to come out as flat as board on Tuesday night, falling by a score of 5-3 to the Minnesota Wild at Rexall Place. The loss was their sixth straight, which is a feat that has not been achieved in this neck of the woods since December 2009.

Ryan Smyth and the 2013-14 Edmonton Oilers

Heading into the upcoming off-season, the names of those players who seem unlikely to return to the Edmonton Oilers in 2013-14 seem fairly obvious. That list would most certainly include Eric Belanger, Ben Eager, Darcy Hordichuk, Ryan Jones, Nikolai Khabibulin, Jerrad Smithson, Andy Sutton, Ryan Whitney and possibly all three of Mark Fistric, Theo Peckham and Lennart Petrell.

Oilers fans are less than thrilled with Kevin Lowe

With the Edmonton Oilers recent history being what it is, Kevin Lowe was basically in a no-win situation on Monday morning. After watching the team suffer through a late season collapse, that has all but guaranteed this franchise missing the playoffs for a seventh consecutive season, the majority of fans wanted to see major change within the organization.

MacTavish in, Tambellini out as Oilers General Manager

Apparently losing to a Calgary Flames side which dressed six American Hockey League players on Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers, was the final straw. After watching this team lose five consecutive games, when it mattered most and hearing the masses screaming for change, President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe and Owner Daryl Katz had seen enough.

Game 41: Calgary 4 Edmonton 1

As if losing four consecutive games that essentially bumped them out of the Western Conference playoff race wasn't enough, the Edmonton Oilers reached a new low on Saturday night, falling 4-1 to a heavily depleted Calgary Flames side. Two points nights from Tim Jackman and TJ Brodie proved to be too much for the Oilers to overcome, against a Flames roster which featured five AHL regulars in their lineup.
