Opportunity knocks for Ryan Hamilton and Linus Omark

The Edmonton Oilers kickoff their eight game pre-season schedule on Saturday night, with a pair of split squad games against the Calgary Flames. Head coach Dallas Eakins has wasted little time in seeing how Taylor Hall adjusts to playing centre, slotting the Oilers leading scorer between Ales Hemsky and Ryan Smyth for tonight's opener at Rexall Place. However, the most intriguing combos on the night will see Linus Omark, Mark Arcobello and Nail Yakupov lineup together in Edmonton, while the trio of Ryan Hamilton, Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle will lead the charge down south

2013-14 Preview: New Expectations for #89

The moment Sam Gagner agreed to his 3 year/$14.4 million deal to remain with the Edmonton Oilers, expectations for the former sixth overall pick changed. With or without RNH, Hall needs to be left on the wing

When Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish speaks, the masses tend to listen. Unfortunately, sometimes people tend to hear what they want to hear. After seven long years of watching this team lose night after night, most Oiler fans look for the negative in almost every situation. It might not be the best approach to take but it is more than understandable.

Make It Three In a Row!!!

Despite coming out with what was easily their finest outing of the tournament, the Edmonton Oilers rookies finished off their appearance at the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, British Columbia in the same fashion it started. Sacha Guimond scored the eventual game-winner on a third period two-man advantage, as the Vancouver Canucks rallied from two goals down, earning the 5-2 victory and in turn handing the Oilers their third consecutive loss.

Jets score seven in easy win over Oilers

After watching the Edmonton Oilers fall to the Calgary Flames in their opening game of the 2013 Young Stars Tournament, it looked as though this batch of Oiler rookies could be in tough during their time in Penticton, British Columbia. Saturday night's clash with the Winnipeg Jets cemented that line of thinking even further, as the Jets cruised to an easy 7-2 victory.
