2013 World Juniors: Nugent-Hopkins brilliant but Canada self-destructs in OT


On the strength of a two goal performance from captain Nail Yakupov and an superb overtime winner from Valeri Nichushkin, Team Russia took home the Bronze Medal from the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, edging Team Canada 6-5 in Ufa, Russia.

Griffins bury OKC Barons with second period explosion



Powered by a five goal second period, the Grand Rapids Griffins had little trouble disposing of the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday night, beating Todd Nelson's squad by a score of 5-2. Riley Sheahan lead the way with a pair of goals and an assist, while Edmonton Oilers prospect Justin Schultz picked up his eighteenth of the season in the losing effort.

Two third period goals from Stephane Legault and a forty-five save performance from Laurent Brossoit, paced the Edmonton Oil Kings to an impressive 4-0 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes, in the lone game on Thursday night's WHL schedule.

2013 World Juniors: Team USA destroy Canada in semi-final



An all out blitz from Team USA proved to be far too much for a flat Team Canada, that simply forgot to show up for the opening forty minutes of their semi-final matchup at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship. The Americans 5-1 victory leaves Canada the opportunity to bring home nothing more than a bronze medal, from Ufa, Russia.

2013 World Juniors: Subban will play a key role in Canada's run for Gold


Heading into the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship many had their doubts about Canada's netminding, with most of the uncertainty lingering around the play of projected starter Malcolm Subban. While the Belleville Bulls standout has silenced all of those critics with his two most recent performances against Team USA and Team Russia, all anyone will remember, will be his performance at crunch time.

Hackett continues mastery over Barons in Aeros 4-2 win



Despite two more goals from Edmonton Oilers forwards Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall, the Oklahoma City Barons continued their losing ways when it comes to the Houston Aeros. Tuesday night's 4-2 loss marked the sixth time in seven meetings the Barons have fallen to their South Division rivals.

Samuelsson steals the show in Oil Kings 2012 finale



On the strength of Henrik Samuelsson's first career hat-trick and a pair of goals from defenceman Keegan Lowe, the Edmonton Oil Kings brought their most successful year in franchise history to an end, destroying the Brandon Wheat Kings by a score of 6-2.

Eberle rings in New Year with second hat-trick of the season


A first period natural hat-trick from Jordan Eberle and yet another three point night from his Edmonton Oilers teammate Taylor Hall, helped the Oklahoma City Barons close out 2012 with their fourth straight victory, by a score of 5-2 over the visiting Texas Stars.

On the strength of another three points from Edmonton Oilers centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and some solid team play, Team Canada had little trouble dismissing Nail Yakupov and Team Russia, by a score of 4-1 in the final game of the preliminary round at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.

After hearing nothing but criticism about his play heading into the 2013 World Junior Championship, Malcolm Subban silenced his critics on Sunday afternoon, with a brilliant thirty-six save performance. The Team Canada netminder took his game to the next level, leading his side to a crucial 2-1 victory over Team USA.
