Oilers Power Play Continues To Be A Complete Head Scratcher

The Edmonton Oilers saw their two game pre-season win streak come to an end on Thursday evening, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Vancouver Canucks over at Rexall Place.  While it may be a little early to press the panic button, the fact remains this team has now gone one for twenty-nine on the man advantage and given up shorthanded goals in back-to-back games and that is something which simply cannot be ignored.

Can Joensuu take advantage of his opportunity?

The Edmonton Oilers improved to 4-2 on the pre-season with a 3-2 victory over Devan Dubnyk and the visiting Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday night at Rexall Place. For an exhibition game against a divisional rival that had almost none of their key regulars in the starting lineup, Dallas Eakins crew looked fairly solid…this despite another dreadful performance from both power play units.

Oilers win another but the waters remain rather muddy

It certainly wasn’t pretty but the Edmonton Oilers found a way to send 16, 839 home from Rexall Place with a smile on their collective faces on Monday evening courtesy of a 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

Marincin continues to make things interesting

While the Edmonton Oilers dropped their second pre-season decision in four outings on Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon, falling 5-0 to the Chicago Blackhawks “B - Squad”, their win/loss record in exhibition games doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Was Allowing Fedun To Walk A Mistake?

The Edmonton Oilers organization had a rather difficult decision to make when it came to defenceman Taylor Fedun. On a team littered with nothing but middling National Hockey League talent and a plethora of potential along its blueline, finding a spot for the Edmonton native proved to be an impossible task for general manager Craig MacTavish.

Time For Pitlick To Claim A Roster Spot

The moment Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish decided to bring Benoit Pouliot and Teddy Purcell on board for the upcoming 2014-15 campaign, Tyler Pitlick had to have been wondering if he had missed his opportunity to stick with the team that drafted him back in 2010.
