The Edmonton Oilers have placed Taylor Chorney on waivers this morning. If he does clear waivers, the Oilers will assign the 24 year old defenceman to Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.
Not a surprising move by the club for two reasons. Obviously, one of the injured players is set to come off the IR list in the very near future, my money would be on Ryan Whitney or Ben Eager. Second with the Barons being pounded 7-0 in their season opener Sunday evening, they are clearly in need of some veteran support on the backend. It would not surprise me in the least, if Chorney does not make it thru waivers. Teams are always willing to take a crack on defencemen so look for someone to possibly put in a claim for him.
