Game 38: Los Angeles 4 Edmonton 1

Game 37: Vancouver 4 Edmonton 0

Apparently last Saturday's butt kicking at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers left a bad taste in the mouths of the Vancouver Canucks. Oilers ink Smid to a 4yr/$14M extension

In the category of what took so damn long, the Edmonton Oilers finally agreed to a contract extension with defenceman Ladislav Smid on Monday morning. The deal will see the twenty-seven year old blueliner earn $3.5 million a season, over each of the next four years.

No more excuses, it is time to bury the Flames

Since the start of the 2010-11 NHL season, the Edmonton Oilers have posted a less than flattering 3-8-2 mark against the Calgary Flames. That dreadful stretch has included a run of nine consecutive victories for the Flames and a 4-3 come from behind win for the boys down south, in the lone meeting between the two sides this season.
