Overcrowded forward group grows larger with the addition of Brown
With the Edmonton Oilers acquisition of former Toronto Maple Leafs pest Mike Brown on Monday morning, General Manager Steve Tambellini helped address his club's lack of toughness and willingness to engage physically. On the other hand, he has added another body to a roster that already has far too many players on it.

The Edmonton Oilers and Ryan Smyth are no longer a good fit
Exactly ten days ago, I wrote a piece focusing on the Edmonton Oilers having to make some tough decisions, in order to make room for Ryan Jones in their bottom six. With Jones inching closer to his return to the lineup and the recent emergence of Magnus Paajarvi over the last week and half, it looks as though the time for that decision has come sooner than expected and the odd man out looks to be Mr.Oiler himself, Ryan Smyth.

No need for the Oilers to shift Yakupov out of the top six
While it is nice to see Ralph Krueger and his coaching staff willing to mix things up, in hopes of shaking his Edmonton Oilers out of their season long struggles of producing at even strength. The idea of possibly moving rookie Nail Yakupov away from the rest of the core group of talented youngsters, is a rather perplexing one.

Injury-riddled Oilers recall Arcobello over VandeVelde
With Shawn Horcoff set to be out of the Edmonton Oilers lineup for the foreseeable future and Eric Belanger likely another seven to fourteen days from returning to action, all signs seemed to be pointing to the Oilers re-calling Chris VandeVelde or possibly veteran Josh Green from the Oklahoma City Barons to fill the void.

Game 76: Edmonton 6 Columbus 3
As the 2011-2012 regular season nears its end, the Edmonton Oilers continue to collect points and are on the verge of catching teams in the overall league standings. After yesterday afternoon's win, Edmonton now sits in twenty-eighth place, after passing the Montreal Canadiens. The line of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Ryan Jones combined for seven points and defenceman Ladislav Smid had his first multi-point game since November 2010, in helping the Oilers to a 6-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
