Oilers Roster
Will post full lineup later today.
**Update**
Line Combinations
Paajarvi - Belanger - Hemsky
Petrell - Lander - Omark
Hartikainen - Brule - Keller
Hordichuk - O'Marra - Jones
Defence Pairings
Fedun - Peckham
Chorney - Gilbert
Smid - Petry
Goaltenders
Dubnyk
Khabibulin
Dubnyk is scheduled to go tonight against the Wild with Khabibulin to likely getting the starting nod against the Canucks. I am looking forward to seeing the second line of Petrell - Lander -Omark and see what the trio can muster up. A very good chance for Petrell to show what he can do with better players and solidify his chances to make the opening night roster. Gilbert Brule gets another shot to show he can play a role on this team but he is running out of opportunities. He needs to keep his game simple or he will be in trouble...even with his contract status.
**Update**
Roster Down To 32
The Oilers cut three more on Thursday sending Annti Tyrvainen and Colten Tubert to Oklahoma City while placing Yann Danis on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the Barons.
Injury Update
- No hints given on a timetable for Sam Gagner's possible return outside of the previously stated "week to week" but I can't see him back anytime soon.
- It doesn't seem likely we will see Ryan Whitney this weekend but that won't rule him out entirely for the season opener. With the Oilers not dropping the puck on their season until October 9th, Whitney has a little more time to heal up. At this point, it does seem to be a bit of a stretch to have him play opening night.
- Ben Eager did skate before the main group practiced but he has been ruled out against the Wild. "He won't play tomorrow for sure against Minnesota. I think it's doubtful in Vancouver. I want to be prudent here. I'm worried about his fitness more than anything else," said coach Tom Renney to the media after practice.
