Oilers History: The Dave Brown Years
When the Edmonton Oilers decided to trade away an aging Dave Semenko during the 1986-87 season they parted ways with one of the most popular players in club history and best enforcers to ever play the game. For those who didn’t get the chance to watch him play, No. 27 could strike the fear of god into opponents without the use his fists. More often than not, all it took was one glare to keep opposing players in check.

Oilers History: The Rat Years
After the Edmonton Oilers suffered a shocking first-round loss to the Los Angeles Kings during the 1982 playoffs, it was clear the team was missing something. The need for that “pain-in-the-ass” player who would not only willingly get his nose dirty but also be able to contribute on the score sheet was obvious. Before the 1982 -83 campaign got under way, the Oilers were able to acquire just that type of player in Ken Linseman.

Impressive But Still Not Enough
In this day in age, it is rare for teams in any of the major North American sports to string together multiple titles over an extended period time. Not surprisingly, when it actually occurs, many find it difficult to not start throwing around the word “dynasty”. Blackhawks outlast Bruins in triple OT classic
There a few things in sport that compare to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The intensity level and desperation the players bring to the rink, compared to a regular season tilt, is quite literally night and day. It is without question as grueling a competition as you will find for any trophy in team sports. Before a team earns the right to hoist the Cup, they must embark on a two month journey, in which players are typically pushed to their limits.

Stanley Cup Preview - Will Quick or Brodeur steal the show?
In what will be a Stanley Cup Final in which few, if any, thought might eventually materialize, it appears as though it will come down to what it often comes down to at this time of year...goaltending. New Jersey brings three time Cup winner and all time wins leader Martin Brodeur to the table, while the Los Angeles Kings counter with arguably the best netminder on the league this year, in Jonathan Quick. Both men have been stellar though the post season but which one will carry their team to the ultimate prize? While the experience and intangibles are clearly on the side of Brodeur, look for Quick to be the difference maker at the end of the day.
