Brossoit Shines In Debut

As far as NHL debuts go, Laurent Brossoit could not have asked for things to have gone much better than they did on Thursday night against the San Jose Sharks. While his preference would have certainly been to skate off with his first career win, having to settle for a 3-1 loss in which the twenty-two year old was by far and away the best player on the ice could not have been overly disappointing.

So Much For Losing With A Purpose

So here we are. Following Monday’s 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, the Edmonton Oilers find themselves with six games left on their schedule in what has truly been a wasted year for this once storied franchise.

U-G-L-Y

Hockey Day in Canada has traditionally not been kind to the Edmonton Oilers and Saturday’s afternoon tilt against the Ottawa Senators was no different. After stringing together three consecutive solid outings in the midst of a season-high six game road trip, Todd Nelson’s crew laid an egg in our nation’s capital in dropping a 7-2 decision.

The loss saw the Oilers record fall to 3-9-3 during Hockey Night in Canada’s annual event and they have now posted a dreadful 1-6-1 mark in their eight appearances on CBC’s weekly broadcast in 2014-15.

Oilers mail in yet another home ice effort

Well that certainly didn't take long now did it. After limping their way through the first month of the 2013-14 NHL season, the Edmonton Oilers had to have been hoping for their fortunes to turn with the start of a new month on the horizon. Unfortunately it was more of the same on Saturday night at Rexall Place, as fans across Oil Country are left wondering if this group will ever be able to turn this thing around.

Oilers with yet another poor showing on home ice

On the strength of a rather impressive four point performance from Phil Kessel, the Toronto Maple Leafs simply outclassed an undermanned and struggling Edmonton Oilers side on Tuesday night at Rexall Place, cruising to an easy 4-0 win.

Bachman does what a goalie should do but Oilers still lose

It was a night in which a battered and bruised Edmonton Oilers lineup had next to nothing left in the gas tank but still found a way to walk out of the Staples Centre with a point they had absolutely no right having. On the strength of a 47 save performance from call up Richard Bachman, the Oilers managed to head home with at least one point from their weekend road trip, after falling 2-1 to the Los Angeles Kings in a shootout.

Jets spoil Eakins debut

Despite a late third period rally and a solid performance from his starting netminder, Dallas Eakins did not get the result he was hoping for in his debut behind an NHL bench. While third period goals from Mitch Moroz and Philip Larsen made it close on the scoreboard, this was a game the Edmonton Oilers had no business being in, falling 3-2 to the Winnipeg Jets in Tuesday night NHL exhibition action.
