Time's Up Tyler Pitlick
The 2016-17 season was certainly an interesting one for Edmonton Oilers forward Tyler Pitlick. After years of seeing nothing more than the occasional cup of coffee in the NHL, the 31st pick of the 2010 Entry Draft finally earned himself a shot at proving he belonged at this level. To his credit, the youngster made the most of the opportunity but was once again derailed by injury.

Caggiula Pays Immediate Dividends
While it may not have been the road that either Drake Caggiula or the Edmonton Oilers had envisioned for the 22-year old to take en route to the NHL, his debut against the Dallas Stars could not have gone much better — and it was Hockey Night in Canada to boot.

Positive Signs
On an evening in which the Edmonton Oilers put together one of their finest all around performances of the season and managed to score three goals for the first time in the month of December, it was still not enough to keep this group from dropping their sixth consecutive game.

Back To Reality
Well…it was nice while it lasted. After ending their eleven game winless skid on Sunday night with a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place, the Edmonton Oilers wasted little time in returning to form during Tuesday’s return engagement at the Shark Tank.

Can Joensuu take advantage of his opportunity?
The Edmonton Oilers improved to 4-2 on the pre-season with a 3-2 victory over Devan Dubnyk and the visiting Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday night at Rexall Place. For an exhibition game against a divisional rival that had almost none of their key regulars in the starting lineup, Dallas Eakins crew looked fairly solid…this despite another dreadful performance from both power play units.

Time For Pitlick To Claim A Roster Spot
The moment Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish decided to bring Benoit Pouliot and Teddy Purcell on board for the upcoming 2014-15 campaign, Tyler Pitlick had to have been wondering if he had missed his opportunity to stick with the team that drafted him back in 2010.

Moroz will need time to develop
When the Edmonton Oilers decided to use their second round pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft on Edmonton Oil Kings forward Mitch Moroz, it left many an Oiler fan scratching their head. While no one should have been surprised to see the club take a chance on one of their so-called “homegrown” talents, the fact the organization used the thirty-second overall selection to grab the native of Calgary, Alberta is what confused so many.

How many different ways can one team lose games?
Not sure how many different ways the Edmonton Oilers intend on losing games this season but they have to be running out of ways and we have yet to reach the end of the first month of their schedule. Despite another four goal performance from Dallas Eakins squad upfront, the Oilers still managed to allow five pucks into their own net, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday afternoon.

MacTavish starts reshuffling the deck
It has been a fairly busy couple of days for the Edmonton Oilers organization. From the moment Taylor Hall left the ice during the second period of Saturday afternoon's 3-1 victory against the Ottawa Senators, general manager Craig MacTavish and head coach Dallas Eakins have been working hard at restructuring the Oilers current lineup.

Oilers beat Rangers, send Nurse back to OHL
For a guy who has had nothing more than an adequate run through much of the Edmonton Oilers preseason schedule, Jordan Eberle has managed to continually find his way onto the scoresheet. Last night was no exception, as the Oilers #14 and linemates Mark Arcobello and David Perron combined for seven points, in leading Edmonton to a 5-3 victory over the visiting New York Rangers.

Pitlick and Belov impress in win over Jets
On a night in which the Edmonton Oilers did not dress the majority of their core forward group, the likes of Will Acton, Jesse Joensuu and Tyler Pitlick used the opportunity to send a message to head coach Dallas Eakins. Second period goals from Acton and Joensuu proved to be all the Oilers would need, as they reeled off their third consecutive preseason win, edging the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 2-1.

Jets spoil Eakins debut
Despite a late third period rally and a solid performance from his starting netminder, Dallas Eakins did not get the result he was hoping for in his debut behind an NHL bench. While third period goals from Mitch Moroz and Philip Larsen made it close on the scoreboard, this was a game the Edmonton Oilers had no business being in, falling 3-2 to the Winnipeg Jets in Tuesday night NHL exhibition action.

Tyler Pitlick and the 2014-15 Oilers
Following the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, you would have been hard pressed to find people who were not thrilled with the Edmonton Oilers selection of Tyler Pitlcik with the first pick on the second round. Central Scouting had the youngster sitting 18th in their final rankings and TSN's Bob Mackenzie had him positioned at 25th on his closing list.

Oilers won't lose any sleep over the departure of Toni Rajala
At first glance, the Edmonton Oilers decision to place forward Toni Rajala on unconditional waivers looked to be a rather perplexing one. For an organization that is supposedly starving for high end skill at the AHL level, allowing the most skilled player on the Oklahoma City Barons roster to simply walk away for nothing, seems to make little to no sense.

Oilers could benefit from a Clutterbuck for Pitlick swap
According to the Star Tribune's Mike Russo, the Edmonton Oilers have inquired about the availability of Minnesota Wild winger Cal Clutterbuck. Russo, who is rarely, if ever, out of the loop when it comes to rumblings surrounding the Wild, mentioned Oilers prospect Tyler Pitlick as Minnesota's asking price for the hard-hitting restricted free agent.
