Could this finally be it?

Prior to the start of the 2008-09 season, the Edmonton Oilers organization decided to add former captain Kelly Buchberger to their NHL staff as an assistant coach. After working at his craft for the previous four seasons as an assistant with the now defunct Edmonton Road Runners, an organizational developmental coach and the head coach of the Springfield Falcons in 2007-08, the time had come for the fan favourite to get his chance in “The Show”.

Outplayed by the Sabres one more time

For the second time this season, the Edmonton Oilers were outplayed by the Buffalo Sabres. While Ilya Bryzgalov stole two points for his team when they paid a visit to First Niagara Center back on February 5^th, the team wearing Orange and Blue weren’t so lucky the second time around.

Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins finally make an appearance

A couple of days back I wrote a piece focusing on the need for Edmonton Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins to change up the look of his top two lines. While he did exactly that prior to Tuesday night’s tilt with the Nashville Predators, it was a move which was forced upon him due to Nail Yakupov’s sore ankle. 

Could Greene be making his way back to Edmonton?

Back in 2002, the Edmonton Oilers used their second round pick at the NHL Entry Draft to select defenceman Matt Greene. He was lucky enough to make it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals during his rookie season in 2006 but was ultimately traded away to the Los Angeles Kings along with Jarret Stoll in exchange for the extremely talented Lubomir Visnovsky in the summer of 2008.
