The Beer League Hero / Oil Drop Mock Draft

With the 2014 NHL Entry Draft set to go tomorrow night in Philadelphia, myself and fellow Frozen In Oil contributor, the one and only, Beer League Hero decided to put our heads together and take a stab at this Mock Draft thing.

Time to start winning games on home ice!!!

Over this past weekend, the National Hockey League released their 2014-15 regular season schedule. The Edmonton Oilers started their 2013-14 campaign playing seven of their first ten on the road and some felt that played a large role in this team getting off to the start they did. Unfortunately for them, that wasn’t the case at all, as it was actually the Oilers lack of early success in their home rink that ultimately put them behind the eight-ball.

Patience level at an all-time low for Oiler fans

With the 2014 NHL Entry Draft now less than a week away, the Edmonton Oilers have once again become relevant in hockey circles. Unfortunately for them, the only time this happens is leading up to draft day and it is a scenario this fan base has truly grown tired of.

Is signing Nikitin to a long term deal the way to go?

When news broke of the Edmonton Oilers obtaining the rights of Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Nikita Nikitin the two words that immediately came to mind were “how long”. Clearly the Oilers have interest in signing the player but at what cost? After all, we are talking about a third pairing guy who would likely be asked to play top four minutes along Dallas Eakins’ blueline in 2014-15.
