St. Croix powers Oil Kings over Moose Jaw with three goal performance

The Edmonton Oil Kings continued with their Jekyll and Hyde routine on Friday night, easily disposing of the Moose Jaw Warriors by a score of 5-1. Michael St. Croix led the charge up front with his fifth career hat-trick, while T.J. Foster chipped in with three helpers. Despite their recent struggles, the win moved the Oil Kings within one point of the Calgary Hitmen, for top spot in the the Western Hockey League's Central Division.

Schultz continues to impress in OKC

So this is what all the fuss was about. Three games into his pro career and Justin Schultz is already showing why he was such a sought after commodity heading into last summer's free agency. The youngster scored his second and third goals of the season and was a staggering +5 on the night, in leading the Oklahoma City Barons to a 5-3 victory over the San Antonio Rampage, in the club's home opener on Friday night.

Using Eberle on the penalty kill should be the Oilers first priority

If the Oklahoma City Barons first two games are any indication of how head coach Todd Nelson plans on deploying Jordan Eberle during his time in the American Hockey League, one would have to give the Edmonton Oilers organization a big thumbs down. Having the Oilers All-Star winger playing down in OKC and not allowing him a regualr spin on one of the team's top penalty killing units, is simply flabbergasting.

Time for City Council and the Oilers to put up or shut up

Please make it stop. As if dealing with the non-sense surrounding the NHL lockout wasn't quite enough, the good citizens of Edmonton have the pleasure of hearing about the "proposed" Downtown Arena on a daily basis. While initially the plan seemed to revolve around working out a deal that made sense for both the city and Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz, it has now taken on a life of its own and almost makes the lockout seem like child's play.

Young Oilers start their season in OKC but do we really care?

Maybe it's just me but seeing Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in anything other than an Edmonton Oilers jersey, just seems wrong. Unfortunately, with the NHL and NHLPA decision to shutdown the National Hockey League for the foreseeable future, Oiler fans are going to have to settle for just that.
