Oilers hand Dubnyk the opportunity of a lifetime
Devan Dubnyk may have been handed a two year/ $7 million extension from General Manger Steve Tambellini to be the Edmonton Oilers starting netminder over the next couple of seasons but let's be honest here. Dubnyk will have one kick at the can. He either proves he has what it take to be a number one goalie or he will be replaced in very short order.

A healthy Taylor Hall could mean a return to the playoffs for the Edmonton Oilers
When the Edmonton Oilers selected Taylor Hall with the first overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, most felt he would be the face of the franchise for years to come. Fast forward two years, and two more first overall selections, and some have started to wonder if the talented youngster has been passed as the club's best all around player.

Oilers handover leadership roles to Eberle, Hall & Schultz for 2013
With head coach Ralph Krueger hinting on Monday afternoon that a possible change would be coming to the Edmonton Oilers leadership group sometime before Sunday's season opener in Vancouver, many fans were wondering if the time had come for captain Shawn Horcoff to be replaced as the club's captain.

Oil Notes: Oilers acquire Fistric from Dallas and debut Yakupov on left wing
The Edmonton Oilers first day of practice had few surprises but did feature the anticipated debut of Nail Yakupov at left wing, playing alongside Sam Gagner and Ales Hemsky. Whereas off the ice, General Manager Steve Tambellini was able to make a bit of a splash on the trade market, acquiring rugged blueliner Mark Fistric from the Dallas Stars, in exchange for Edmonton's third round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Oilers treat fans to a game of shinny on first day of camp
On a day in which almost every other National Hockey League team had their first official on ice practice, the Edmonton Oilers did things a little different. After having their players report to Rexall Place earlier in the day and putting them through the yearly routine of medical and fitness tests, the organization decided to treat their fans to a game of shinny featuring their hockey heroes.
Oil Kings reclaim top spot in the Eastern Conference with weekend sweep
On the strength of back-to-back stellar performances from netminder Laurent Brossoit and another three goal effort from forward Curtis Lazar, the Edmonton Oil Kings made it a clean sweep of their three game weekend set, with wins in both Saskatoon and Medicine Hat.

Yakupov set to add some sizzle to Oilers lineup
There are those out there that do not take to the flashy player that enjoys the so-called over the top celebrations. His style may not be for everyone but those who follow the Edmonton Oilers had better get used to it, as the Nail Yakupov show is about to get under way in the City of Champions.
