Was Allowing Fedun To Walk A Mistake?
The Edmonton Oilers organization had a rather difficult decision to make when it came to defenceman Taylor Fedun. On a team littered with nothing but middling National Hockey League talent and a plethora of potential along its blueline, finding a spot for the Edmonton native proved to be an impossible task for general manager Craig MacTavish.

Fedun is knocking on the door
For defenceman Taylor Fedun the 2013-14 season has already been one he won’t soon forget. While the twenty-five year old struggled to find his game for much of
the 2012-13 campaign with the Oklahoma City Barons, no one should have
really been surprised.

Make it seven of eight, as Oilers lose in Philly
It was an afternoon battle between two of the league's most disappointing teams and one that would finally see the offensively challenged Philadelphia Flyers find their scoring touch. A pair of third period markers from Claude Giroux and Vincent Lecavalier proved to be too much for Dallas Eakins's side to overcome, falling for the seventh time in eight games, this time by a score of 4-2.

Smid sent packing in questionable move by MacT
Hate to say I told you so but you could see this one coming from a mile away. Just under three weeks ago, I wrote a piece on Edmonton Oilers blueliner Ladislav Smid apparently not being a guy that head coach Dallas Eakins had much confidence in using as a top four defenceman.

Oilers lose goaltending battle yet again
On a night in which the Edmonton Oilers had Taylor Hall make his long-awaited return to the lineup, it was an outstanding performance from netminder Ben Bishop and a couple of timely finishes from Steven Stamkos that proved to be too much for Dallas Eakins' crew to overcome. Bishop stopped thirty-eight shots, many of which were of the highlight reel variety, in leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-2 win over the Western Conference cellar dwellers.

Arcobello saves the day, as Oilers squeak past Panthers
On the heels of five consecutive losses, the Edmonton Oilers nearly found a way to make it six but managed to finally end their run of futility, edging the Florida Panthers 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night. Mark Arcobello continued his impressive start to the season, scoring twice, including the OT winner, while defencemen Philip Larsen and Taylor Fedun each lit the lamp for their first goals of the year.

Oilers beat Rangers, send Nurse back to OHL
For a guy who has had nothing more than an adequate run through much of the Edmonton Oilers preseason schedule, Jordan Eberle has managed to continually find his way onto the scoresheet. Last night was no exception, as the Oilers #14 and linemates Mark Arcobello and David Perron combined for seven points, in leading Edmonton to a 5-3 victory over the visiting New York Rangers.

Belov and Rimmer impress in debut
On a night in which the Vancouver Canucks had just one of their regular core players in the lineup, that being Alex Edler, the Edmonton Oilers had little trouble in earning a 5-2 victory over their Pacific Division rival in Saturday night NHL exhibition action. Defenceman Anton Belov made his long-awaited debut in Oilers silks, as the free agent signing was paired with fellow Russian blueliner Denis Grebeshkov.

Oilers have an impressive looking trio in Klefbom, Nurse and Schultz
Over the last number of years, the Edmonton Oilers have unjustly taken heat from more than a few so-called experts, for not addressing their blueline at the NHL Entry Draft. However, had any of them taken the time to look back at look at what they actually did, they would have see the complete opposite. While the organization did use their first overall picks from 2010-2012 on Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov, they did add a fair amount of young talent to their D core since the 2010 Draft.
