Oiler fans can expect another steady diet of Shawn Horcoff in 2012-13

Over the last number of years, Shawn Horcoff has become the whipping boy for the vast majority of Edmonton Oiler fans. No matter what the Oiler captain does, it is never good enough for the masses in Oil Country. Few are willing to look past that number...$5.5 million. Unfortunately, in their eyes, that number takes away much of what the eleven year vet provides this club.

Paajarvi and Lander will give the Oilers three dynamic duos

Much of the hype surrounding the Edmonton Oilers has rightly been focused on the quartet of Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov. With Edmonton prevailing as the winners of the Justin Schultz Sweepstakes, they have now turned that group of four into a quintet of impressive youngsters. While much of their future fortunes will rest directly on the shoulders of those five players, it could be the development of the two somewhat forgotten kids, Anton Lander and Magnus Paajarvi, that may ultimately put them over the top.

Oilers Foursome could turn into something very special

Leading up to the 2012 Entry Draft, I like most columnists/bloggers, wrote my far share of articles surrounding what the Edmonton Oilers might do with their first overall selection. In my mind it was a rather easy decision. Unless they were floored by some sort of crazy offer, you take Nail Yakupov.

With Nash gone, do the Blue Jackets target the Oilers and Ales Hemsky?

One by one, the high ticket dominoes are starting to fall across the NHL. With the over hyped Rick Nash finally found his way into a Rangers jersey on Monday afternoon, it leaves Alex Semin and Shane Doan as the two big name forwards to find new homes. Leaving one to wonder if the Edmonton Oilers now become that "other" option for those teams still looking to upgrade...especially in Columbus.
