Young Oilers start their season in OKC but do we really care?

Maybe it's just me but seeing Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in anything other than an Edmonton Oilers jersey, just seems wrong. Unfortunately, with the NHL and NHLPA decision to shutdown the National Hockey League for the foreseeable future, Oiler fans are going to have to settle for just that.

After looking like world beaters in their opening three games of the season, the Edmonton Oil Kings have fallen onto hard times. Thursday night's 4-1 loss, at the hands of the Prince Albert Raiders, leaves the Oil Kings with a 3-2 record on the season. Travis Ewanyk scored his first of season in the losing effort, which leaves Edmonton in third place of the WHL's Central Division.

Hitmen hand Oil KIngs their first loss of the season

After having little trouble in their opening three games of the 2012-2013 campaign, the Edmonton Oil Kings finally met their match, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night at Rexall Place.  Brooks Macek led the way upfront with a pair of assists, while goaltender Chris Driedger stopped thirty-four of the thirty-five shots fired his way, improving Calgary's record to a perfect 3-0 and pushing them past the Oil Kings into first place in the WHL's Central Division.

Rimmer outstanding in losing effort, as Oil Kings make it three in row

The Edmonton Oil Kings continued their early season domination of the Western Hockey League, improving to 3-0 on their campaign, with a 3-0 road victory against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Netminder Ty Rimmer was outstanding in the losing effort, stopping 57 of the 60 Oil King shots fired his way. Forwards Curtis Lazar and Henrik Samuelsson scored for the second consecutive game and backup netminder Tristan Jarry made twenty saves, picking up his first WHL shutout, in his first start of the season.
