Oil Notes: Omark Out At Least Four More Weeks

Edmonton Oilers colour man Bob Stauffer, ran an interview he did with Oklahoma City Barons head coach Todd Nelson, on Monday's edition of Oilers Now. During the interview, Nelson hinted that winger Linus Omark is no where near being ready to return to action for the first place Barons.

"Omark...he's still a ways a way yet", said coach Nelson. "I think he has four more weeks in a cast but according to the doctors, it is healing properly and they're very happy with the progress of it...but it will still be another four weeks in a cast".

With the Oilers desperately needing a boost to their secondary scoring, Omark would have had to have been given another opportunity to prove his worth but with him currently being on the sideline, that won't happen.

Omark has already missed four weeks of action because of the broken ankle he suffered back in November. The original diagnosis was for Linus to miss between four to six weeks but if he does indeed need that cast on for another month, the talented winger will have missed nearly two and a half months of his season. Not exactly the sophomore campaign one Linus Omark was hoping to have.

During that same interview, the Oklahoma City bench boss also said that Finnish winger Teemu Hartikainen, is set to make his return to the Barons lineup. Hartikainen had missed the previous three weeks of action after being sidelined with a shoulder injury. If the feisty winger can find his game in short order and the Oilers continue to struggle to manufacture some sort of secondary scoring, don't be surprised to see the 21 year old given his first real opportunity to make an impact on the 2011 - 2012 edition of the Edmonton Oilers.
